The Tús Programme is a short-term work initiative designed to help unemployed individuals gain valuable work experience while contributing to their local communities. Participants work 19.5 hours per week (or 39 hours per fortnight) for a maximum of one year.
Who Can Participate?
To qualify for the Tús Programme, applicants must:
✔ Have been continuously unemployed for at least 12 months
✔ Be receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance or Disability Allowance
✔ Be registered as a full-time jobseeker with the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP)
This programme offers a great opportunity to return to the workforce while retaining secondary benefits.
Can Participants Take on Other Work?
Yes! Participants can take up to 19.5 hours of commercial employmentalongside their Tús work, as long as it does not interfere with their programme commitments.
How to Apply?
Most participants are randomly selected by the DEASP and referred to Cavan County Local Development or a similar local body. However, 30% of placesare now available through self-referral. Forms for self-referral are available upon request.
