January has been a busy and exciting month for SICAP, with many aspiring entrepreneurs taking their first steps toward business ownership. I have had the privilege of meeting several new individuals eager to start their own businesses, as well as reconnecting with those I first met late last year. The enthusiasm and determination of these entrepreneurs highlight the vital role of SICAP in supporting business development in our community.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this work is seeing people progress from initial business ideas to securing support through the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA). This month, I have had multiple approvals for BTWEA, allowing individuals to confidently move forward with their business plans while receiving crucial financial support.
A standout success story is Emer, who was approved for BTWEA in the last quarter of 2024. She has since successfully launched her business at Bailieborough Enterprise Centre, turning her vision into reality. Her journey is a testament to what can be achieved with the right guidance, resources, and determination.
For those considering starting a business, SICAP offers essential support, from mentoring and networking to financial guidance and access to schemes like BTWEA. If you are thinking about launching your own business in 2025, now is a great time to explore your options.
If you would like to learn more about how SICAP can help, feel free to reach out. Let’s work together to turn your business idea into a success story!
The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) and co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) under the Employment, Inclusion, Skills, and Training (EIST) Programme 2021–2027. Local authorities oversee SICAP at the county level, with Cavan County Local Development implementing the program in co. Cavan.
