Last night, Iris O’Callaghan (Secretary) and Carole Beattie (Chairperson) attended a heartwarming fundraiser organized by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland – Cavan Branch. The event, held at Killinkere Leisure Centre, brought together people from all walks of life in a shared mission: raising awareness and support for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
A Night of Music, Song, and Community
From 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, the venue was alive with music, dance, and heartfelt recitations. Rambling House provided a lively soundtrack for the evening, setting the stage for an Open Mic Night, where attendees showcased their talents and shared moments of joy through song and storytelling.
The event was more than just entertainment—it was a celebration of community spirit, emphasizing the importance of support networks for those living with dementia and their caregivers.
Raising Funds, Raising Hope
With voluntary donations and an exciting raffle, the night also helped generate much-needed funds to support the Alzheimer Society’s local initiatives. These contributions go a long way in ensuring that essential services, such as Pop-up Alzheimer/Dementia Cafés, continue to provide respite, guidance, and companionship for families navigating the challenges of dementia.
